Applying Fisher-Yates randomizations

Pro-Tip: You can **drag-and-drop** name tags between teams to manually adjust or swap players!

Let’s make team splitting simple (and actually fair).

Dividing a group doesn't have to be a chore. Whether you're organizing a classroom project, arranging soccer scrimmage squads, or setting up a board game night with friends, we'll help you sort your roster in seconds without the awkwardness or subconscious bias.

No more picking favorites

We've all been there—standing around waiting to be chosen, or playing tetris with names to make rosters even. Our splitter gives every person the exact same mathematical chance to end up on any squad. It's completely unbiased, clean, and honest.

Built for regular organizers

If you're managing the same group of students or coworkers every week, stop copying and pasting. You can save your rosters securely in your browser's local memory. When you return next week, they're right here waiting for you.

How it works in four simple steps

1
Add your names

Type them in, drag and drop a .csv or .txt list, or tap one of our quick presets to see it in action instantly.

2
Pick your style

Set the exact number of teams you want, or define your target group size. You can also pick a fun naming theme (like mythical beasts or beautiful colors) to add some flavor.

3
Shuffle and tweak

Watch the cards fan and deal names into balanced columns. If you need to make custom adjustments, just click and drag player name tags between teams manually.

4
Copy or download

Grab the finalized squads with a single click. It copies in a clean, human-readable layout that pastes perfectly into Google Sheets, Slack, Teams, or an email.

Answers to common questions

Is this generator truly random?

Yes, absolutely. We use the standard Fisher-Yates algorithm, which is the mathematically proven way to shuffle elements without any pattern or bias. No favorites, no hidden weights—just pure fairness.

Can I move someone after the split?

Yes! Sometimes pure randomness separates best friends or groups too many heavyweights together. You can grab any name tag and drag it over to another team card. The counts update automatically, and your manual edits are saved when you copy or download.

Where is my roster data stored?

Strictly on your own computer. We know teachers and event hosts work with real names, so security is our top priority. Everything runs entirely inside your browser. We never upload your lists, files, or roster settings to any server.

Does this paste nicely into spreadsheets?

It does. When you click "Copy Teams to Clipboard," we format the text cleanly. You won't get any weird cells, broken layout borders, or double spacings when pasting into Excel, Google Sheets, or email platforms.
