How to Use?
Usage Tips
  • This tool only counts public videos. We cannot include hidden or deleted videos because YouTube does not share that information in the official API.
  • You don't have to calculate the whole playlist. You can measure just a specific section using the "From" and "To" input boxes.
  • Leave "From" empty? We start at the very first video.
  • Leave "To" empty? We count all the way to the last video.
  • Example: If you want to check the length of videos 11 through 40, just type 11 in the "From" box and 40 in the "To" box.

No, there is no daily limit on YTP Length. You can use unlimited playlists every day without any restriction.
What playback speeds are supported in YTP Length?
We support the normal speed (1x) as well as faster speed options like 1.25x, 1.5x, 1.75x, and 2x.

Yes, our YTP Length tool is completely free to use! We don't have any paid plans and all the advanced features are available for free.
Do I need to sign up to use your YTP Length tool?
No, you can use our YTP Length tool to calculate YouTube Playlist Length without signing up. Just enter the YouTube playlist URL and find the playlist length immediately.
Is there a limit on the number of videos in a playlist?
No, there are no restrictions on the number of videos; our tool works with playlists of any size. This includes YouTube Music playlists as well.
Can I sort a YouTube Playlist with the YTP Length tool?
Yes, the YTP Length tool provides several sorting options like Latest video first, Oldest video first, Most Viewed video first, Most Liked video first, Shortest video first, and Longest video first. Just click the sorting tab and the videos are sorted within seconds.
Can I use YTP Length for educational playlists?
Yes, we designed YTP Length to work with any playlist including educational playlists. You can also find the length between specific videos using our YTP Length tool. This helps you plan your time productively.
Why does the calculated total time sometimes differ from YouTube?
Our tool uses the official YouTube Data API to calculate the exact duration of your playlist. However, the official API strictly restricts access to data from hidden, private, or deleted videos. Therefore, our calculator will automatically skip these inaccessible videos and only calculate the total length and average duration for the publicly available videos in your playlist.
How does the "Start" and "End" range feature on the YTP Length website help me study better?
The range feature is designed for students and developers who want to track their remaining study time. For example, if you are learning from a 27-video tutorial playlist and have already watched the first 8 videos, you can enter "9" in the Start box and "27" in the End box. This instantly gives you the exact time required to finish the course. It is also highly useful for skipping introductory or concluding videos that you do not need to watch.
Why should I sort an educational playlist by "Most Liked" or "Longest"?
While absolute beginners should watch tutorial playlists in chronological order, sorting by "Most Liked" is a proven strategy (at least from my personal experience) for intermediate learners. The most liked videos in a technical playlist usually cover the most critical concepts and frequently asked interview questions. Alternatively, sorting by "Longest" is ideal for advanced learners, as creators typically use longer video formats to provide deep, detailed explanations of complex topics.
How is the "Average Length" calculated, and why is it useful?
The average length is calculated by taking the total duration of all accessible videos in the playlist and dividing it by the total valid video count. This is particularly useful for planning study sessions or workout routines, as it gives you a realistic estimate of how much time you need to dedicate to each individual video on average.

Why Should I Know the Length of a YouTube Playlist?

By default, YouTube does not provide a native feature to sum up the running times of playlist videos. Knowing the combined duration of a YouTube playlist is critical for effective time management, whether you are planning a self-paced study course, scheduling online tutorials, or structuring workout playlists.

For self-directed learners and developers, knowing the total duration allows you to divide the course curriculum into daily workloads, align videos with time-blocking techniques like Pomodoro, and estimate exactly how many days or weeks are needed to master a new skill. To understand how playlist architectures and quotas function behind the scenes, check out our guide where we have debunked 16 common playlist misconceptions.

Plan Your Learning

When you are learning something from a YouTube playlist, knowing the total duration helps you break the course down into manageable chunks without feeling overwhelmed.

Watch Web Series Smartly

Watching an anime series or any web series on a YouTube playlist? Find out exactly how many hours of popcorn and snacks you're looking at before you even hit play.

Perfect for Workout Routines

If you have a playlist of fitness or yoga videos, knowing the combined length guarantees your workout fits perfectly into your morning schedule without making you late for work.

Speed Up and Save Time

Not everyone watches at normal speed. By seeing exactly how much time you save at 1.5x or 2x speed, you can improve study sessions and plan your day.
