A coffee brew ratio expresses the proportional weight relationship between dry ground coffee and brew water (formatted as 1:X, where 1 part coffee is brewed with X parts water by mass). For example, a 1:16 ratio means 1 gram of coffee for every 16 grams (ml) of water. Controlling this ratio is the single most critical factor for dialing in body, sweetness, flavor clarity, and balanced extraction.
A 1:15 ratio is richer and heavier in body with amplified sweetness and lower perceived acidity (great for dark or medium roasts).
