Frequently Asked Questions About Hoop House Design & Materials

The total curved pipe length (arc length) depends on your hoop house width (span), peak height (rise), and sidewall style. For a semicircular arch where height equals half the width (e.g., a 12-foot wide tunnel with a 6-foot center height), the pipe length is exactly half the circumference: Pipe Length = π × Radius = 3.1416 × 6 = 18.85 feet (typically built using two 10-foot lengths of EMT conduit joined with a coupling). For Gothic peak arches with straight sidewalls, add vertical sidewall height directly to the arched arc length.
